Get To Know - MK Supplies
By Michelle of Evie's Tool Emporium
What is your Etsy shop name?
MK Supplies
How did you come up with that name?
I actually started the business on a whim. So I did not put much thought into it- MK are my initials, and supplies is self explanatory! I needed to sell some of my "extra" supplies, so I could buy more supplies for my jewelry making needs. It started picking up, so I decided to turn it into a small side business to create a bit of extra income. Not long after I made this decision my husband was laid off from his job. It was then that we decided to take it full time as a family business! The name stuck, and we have not looked back since!
What sort of crafting supplies do you sell?
We specialize in vintage beads, cabochons, and findings. We also have an ever growing selection of Czech glass beads, and a nice selection of contemporary findings and settings as well.
Favorite website(s) aside from Etsy?
www.etsy.com/shop/simpletraditions
This is my friends Etsy shop (so it's still Etsy!)- she sells amazing handmade soaps and bath and body products- I can not live without these! My whole family, even my children use these products! Other than that we like www.modishblog.com/ a lot too!
Do you craft yourself? If so, what do you like to make?
Yes! I actually went to school for Illustration, and Printmaking. Me and my husband (the other half of MK Supplies!) also enjoy screen printing when we can squeeze in the time. I create jewelry as well and really love doing anything crafty!
Please tell us one thing that nobody would know about you.
Lots of people know this, but it's not something we advertise…we are a vegetarian family.
What is your favorite thing to make for dinner?
Tempeh, rice, and steamed broccoli! It's easy to make, yummy, and makes our bellies happy.
What goals do you have for your shop over the next year?
Over the next year, we would like to continue growing a bit. We actually have hoards of awesome vintage supplies in our office just waiting to be listed! We love being a small family business, so our goal is to keep it up, and keep the selection fresh and fun!
If you sell on other venues, where else can we find your items?
Our Etsy shop - http://mksupplies.etsy.com
We sell on ArtFire - http://mksupplies.artfire.com
And our new website! - http://www.mkbeads.com
Also, I sell my handcrafted jewelry on Etsy-

Tutorial - Valentine Polymer Clay Heart Utilizing A Letter And Number Stamp Set
By Michelle of Evie's Tool Emporium
Every once in awhile you stumble upon a great opportunity to partner with someone that leads to the unexpected. Over year ago via the internet I met Dotty from Totally Tutorials. She has a wonderful blog site that features tutorials made by many talented, creative artists.
I discovered that she was looking for supply sellers to offer supplies in exchange for a tutorial. I jumped at the opportunity. One of the exchanges Evie's Tool Emporium participated in was with ArtMind. The supply that we gave in exchange was a Metal Stamping Set - 1.5 mm 36 Piece Letters And Numbers. Mitsy created a how to use metal letter stamp set with clay tutorial that is not only a quick easy read, but also shows how a new tool can change the creative process!
If you are a supply seller or an artist please feel free to contact Dotty. She is wonderful to work with and I know your experience will be as positive as mine! A huge thank you to Mitsy for her tutorial!
