Get to Know - CircleintheSand

What is your Etsy shop name? Circle In The Sand http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5166044

How did you come up with that name? My Etsy shop is named in honor of my wonderful husband. "Circle In The Sand" is a very favorite song of ours and Duckie (the avatar) was the very first gift that hubby ever gave me - and it is my nickname on Etsy. If you have ever purchased anything from me, you received it thanks to hubby, cos he does all my Post Office runs for me.

What sort of crafting supplies do you sell? When I first began selling online, I was just trying to destash from my own personal collection of craft supplies, so I have sold Buttons, sewing patterns, appliques, Buttons, needlpoint kits, Craft books, did I mention Buttons? I have an obsession with buttons - I love collecting them and I love selling them!! Favorite website(s) aside from Etsy? I can't really say I have a favorite. I don't have a lot of extra time to spend online, so mostly the sites that I look at are just other craft sites. I do get a kick out of some of the stuff on YouTube.

Do you craft yourself? If so, what do you like to make? I have been doing some kind of craft as far back as I can remember. I started out when I was very young just doing simple needlepoint kits; my mom and Home Ec class taught me to sew; a Great Aunt taught me plastic canvas and a friend taught me how to paint, both on wooden shapes and on clothing. I keep coming back to plastic canvas as my favorite craft, tho I have a ton of needlepoint kits that I want to work my way thru.
Please tell us one thing that nobody would know about you. Hubby and I, together, have 5 children, 2 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way (at the last head count), and one very spoiled Rottweiler named Suggie.

What is your favorite thing to make for dinner? Leftovers!! No, I'm serious......we have a very weird schedule, we get up around 3:30 a.m. so hubby can get to work, so we are kinda tired after working all day. I try to make cook a big casserole or a crockpot full of something on the weekends, then we eat on that for several days. We also love to go to Cracker Barrel - we can both eat there and just stuff ourselves royally for $20.00 - not a bad deal!! Some of our favorite foods to cook at home are Steak, Spaghetti, Chicken Pot Pie, Taco Bake and Chili in the cooler months.

What goals do you have for your shop over the next year? I hope to be able to spend more time in my shop. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on April 13, 2010, so medical issues have taken up a lot of my recent time. (Ladies - are you up to date with your mammograms?) I do have lots of completed needlepoint projects that I'd like to get listed, and of course, I still have Buttons and 'destashing' to sell. I also got a new camera back at the first of the year that I want to become proficient with, so that my pictures will be awesome! And, there is always the elusive "business license" issue that I can't seem to take care of :)

If you sell on other venues, where else can we find your items? I actually started out on Ebay, long before I found Etsy. I do still sell a few items there, so occasionally you can purchase a needlepoint kit or appliques or buttons there. http://myworld.ebay.com/je122303

Or email me at jaheden@yahoo.com

Thank you for taking the time to read about me and I'm looking forward to you visiting my Etsy Shop!!

See ya,
Duckie

Get to Know - ShipwreckedCreation

What is your Etsy shop name? ShipwreckedCreation.etsy.com

How did you come up with that name? I have 'treasures' that all beader's need to complete their creations, from start to finish. I picture a treasure chest opening in front of young and hopeful eyes and once the lid is pryed open there it is, full of treasures from a shipwrecked pirates ship. I imagine me just digging in, like in the movies! HAHA!

What sort of crafting supplies do you sell?
Sterling silver, copper,Gold filled, argentium findings, beads and more. I like things that are different if I can find them. I figure that all beader's have their own style and flare. I like to try to express that in some of my special findings as well as the necessary needs.

Do you craft yourself? If so, what do you like to make? I am a fellow beader myself. I like to make all kinds of jewelry that fits the mood of the moment. I also make very unique windchimes that are an actual art piece that does capture the wind as well, known as 'Recycled Wind'. They are 3D pieces that are hard to view with a flat picture as they can be turned to view all sides of this art piece. I've also painted and worked with metal years ago but no longer in the heat of the metal.

Please tell us one thing that nobody would know about you.
Gosh.. I'm an opened book to most that know me, or so I think I am. I did a painting for Walt Disney World in my college days. Not many know that

What is your favorite thing to make for dinner? Something spicy mostly. Cajun perhaps or something with lots of garlic and flavor.

What goals do you have for your shop over the next year? To be bigger and have 5 times the selection.

If you sell on other venues, where else can we find your items? I'm only an etsy girl. I attend shows for my jewelry and findings but online, etsy only.
